Llandudno TT League Round Up

News - week 15

The handicap Cup fixtures were depleted this week, with a number of teams unable to field a team, clearly conserving their efforts for the league. The closest encounter witnessed North Wales Police A beating Trinity E by ten points. I am reliably informed that it was the accurate hitting of Roger Lee that tipped the balance in the deciding game. Denbigh A beat first division Y Morfa B by twenty–seven points.
While Andy Horton secured a maximum both Roger Rowett and Harold Furber won two a-piece to secure passage to the quarter-finals. Trinity B beat Llandudno Junction by thirty-nine points, Sean Lucas landed a maximum and teamed up with Melvyn Booker to win a thrilling doubles match 50-49. North Wales Police B comfortably progressed at the expense of Craig-y-don B with maximums for both Kevin Evans and Peter Roberts. Finally, Denbigh C beat Wylfa C by sixty-five points, with Don Grigg doing the most damage with a fine maximum.
In the first division, Rhyl A move up to third after a hard fought 6-4 victory over Amlwch-Wylfa BBarry Russ secured a fine maximum dropping only two games on the night and he paired up with Connor Climo to win the doubles. Then Connor won two singles securing the victory, he lost out to Gareth Jones who proved to be Amlwch’s strongest player on the night.
In the second division, Denbigh A move back to the top after an 8-2 victory over their B team. Maximums here for both Harold Furber and Kath Mitchell-Dawson. Iain McGillivraybeat Chris Watkins in a five-game thriller and teamed up with Don Grigg to inflict a rare doubles defeat for Denbigh A.
