In the quarter finals of the Handicap Cup the closest tie witnessed second division Rhyl B finally see off Conway A with four points to spare in the doubles, which was played as the tenth and final game. Good Rhyl B wins here with Norman Stagg beating Steve Nicholls and Dave Foster and John Hughes both proving too strong for Graham Heath on the night. In an all first division clash Police A prevailed by sixteen points at the expense of Trinity B. A great win by Chris Phillips over Tony Wan and a spirited thirty-two points for Eddie Chan against Roger Lee was counteracted by Mark Pugh dropping just forty-five points in his games. Trinity A beat Rhyl A by thirty-seven points despite Barrie Russ beating Ben Moore 40-39. Abhishek Bathula proved to be the strongest player dropping only forty points in his three singles games. Police B eased passed Denbigh C by fifty-nine points winning all ten games with their strongest player Kevin Evans, dropping only thirty-five points in his singles matches.
In the quarter finals of the Presidents Trophy, the closest tie saw Trinity C beat Craig-y-don B by twenty-five points. Trinity C had to win each game by an average three-point margin and Roy Williams opening 40-23 win against Keith Potter made this task easier. The victory was despite Ady Waugh beating Josh Gilmore 40-28 and a narrow doubles victory for Craig-y-don BAmlwch Cheld off their A team by a comfortable sixty points. Good performances here by Caren Ault andMatthew Winnett in achieving nineteen and twenty-one points against Paul Collins and Ian Aultand teaming up in the doubles to gain an impressive twenty-three points against the same pair. Rhyl C proved too well handicapped running out seventy-six-point winners over Y MorfaMarcus Joneswas in fine form, beating Chris Henderson to thirty-three points and achieving twenty-nine points against Andy Horton. In another great performance Pat Peak made twenty-eight points againstColin McEvoy.
In the first division, Trinity A temporarily move to the top, two points ahead of Amlwch A, but the champions have two games in hand. While the 8-2 victory over Amlwch B suggests a comfortable night for Trinity A, the game was much tighter with six of the encounters going to fifth game deciders. Gareth Jones games were all five game thrillers, he beat Ben Moore but lost out to Stuart Dearden and Matthew Fox. Mathew and Stuart both went onto secure their maximums. The other islanders point was earned in a tight five game doubles match. Amlwch B beat Rhyl A 7-3 with captain Mark Bryant securing his maximum and two wins each for both Claire Brewster and Emyr OwenAlan Simkiss beat Emyr in five and Barrie Russ beat Claire. Additionally, Rhyl A also landed their first doubles victory of the campaign.
