In the first division, Conwy A move into third in the table following a hard-fought victory at the expense of Police ATony Wan was in the process of producing a match winning performance having already seen off both Steve Nicholls and Graham Heath. However, he had to retire injured in his quest for a maximum against Andy Lunt. After this key moment Steve Nicholls stepped up to the plate to beat Thomas au Yeung in five and Graham Heath finished off the win beating Roger Lee in the last game of the night. The Conwy B revival continues, this week they beat Y Morfa 7-3. Melvyn Booker won all his three and teamed with Sean Lucas in the doubles but they were touched off 12-14 in the fifth. Paul Hulme and Sean Lucas each won two games, Sean came back from two games to one and 8-10 to beat Andy Horton in a five-game thriller. The bottom two clubs shared the points, Stuart Dearden representing Trinity B proved to be the strongest player on the night winning all his three and teaming up with Rob Stewart to land the doubles. Rob Stewart encounters were all decided in the fifth game, he beat Alan Simkiss but lost out to Rhyl A players Barrie Russ and Dave Foster.
In the second division, Trinity C is six points clear of Rhyl B after this week’s exchanges. Trinity Covercame third placed Police B by a 7-3 score line. Fred Moore, Roy Williams and Josh Gilmoreeach won two games beating John Cartwright and Nigel McLaughlinPeter Roberts landed the three Police B points dropping only one game in the process. The most highly contested encounter was the doubles and it is nice to see other squad players utilised here with Pru Oakes teaming up with Fred Moore to beat Alan Lavery and Peter Roberts 11-6 in the fifth. Rhyl B landed their ten points without hitting a ball. They were unable to access Nant Glyn hall in their away match againstDenbigh B, who conceded the points. Sadly, this is the third time this season that teams have not been able to play at a venue due to unforeseen circumstances. Craig-y-don B were flattered by their 10-0 victory over Denbigh C. Four games went to fifth game decider, including all of Martin Bill’s matches. Keith Potter was involved in a second five game battle on the night but was able to beat Harry Jones 11-7.  Amlwch C beat Rhyl C 10-0, the strongest performance was posted by Caren Ault who kept her opponents below six points in all the nine singles games she played.
