News - Week 12

In the first division, the main news is that Amlwch B have had to withdraw being left with only one player. Captain Mark Bryant has been signed off by the doctor from playing competitive table tennis for the remainder of the season, we wish him a full recovery for next season. Amlwch table tennis club explored several avenues including playing with two players by borrowing from the C team, but eventually had to concede. The expunging of their results has shuffled the standings a little. It is the closest race for honours during the last ten years. Unbeaten Trinity A lead the division by seven points from Amlwch A who have a game in hand. In the individual standings three players have lost only one encounter; Abhishek Bathula (Trinity A), Keith Williams(Amlwch A) and Mark Pugh (Police A). The only game played this week produced a fantastically hard fought draw between Trinity C and Rhyl ADave Foster was man of match beating David Daniels in a five-game thriller to secure his maximum. The doubles went to Trinity C this was also a five-game match, as was Ron Bradburn's victory over Eddie Chan. Eddie did land his first win of the season after so many near misses he beat Barrie Russ.
In the second division, Craig-y-don B finished their 2018 with a comfortable 10- 0 win at the expense of Rhyl C. The strongest player on the night was Ady Waugh who secured his maximum without dropping a game. For the visitors Marcus Jones was able to capture two games and Andy Chambers one. This result leaves Craig-y-don B fifth in the division but they have games in hand of nearly all the teams above them.
