Well our C team Captain Chris Davies certainly believes this after she guided her team to victory in week 6 of the Division 2 championship in 2018/19 season. The team have competed in the last two seasons campaigns and never managed to quite grab that important 1st victory. Well they've done it now and it's helped by strengthening the squad this season.

Week 9 of the Llandudno Table Tennis League Season was a Derby night at Rhyl TT Club. Our C Team hoping to keep up the pressure of staying ahead of of Y Morfa B who prop up the bottom of the Division. Our B team also hoping to maintain a strong hold on the Division 2 championship this season and not let Amlwch C open up too much of a Gap at the top of the Division 2 table.

It's week 8 of the League Competition and our teams are heading towards the half way point of the season in pretty good shape. Our A Team enjoyed back to back matches in which they drew against Trinity B then went on to demolish 3rd place Division 1 opponents Conwy B 8-2 & placed 6th in the league table. Our B Team are placed in 2nd spot of Division 2 with games in hand over 1st placed Amlwch C. Our C Team continue to sit 2 points clear of the bottom team Y Morfa B with a game in hand.

Whilst our C Team sat out week 5 in Division 2 following Henllan pulling out of the League our B Team were away to Y Morfa B and successfully beat them 0-10 to maintain their unbeaten run in the 2018/19 season and top Div 2 by 7 points from Amlwch C. Our A Team were also away this week to Y Morfa A and despite losing 7-3 the 3 points means they have opened up a gap between them & Trinity B in Division 1 making this weeks game at home to Trinity B a 'spicy' affair. Rhyl Table Tennis Club took part in the 2018/2019 Welsh Team Championships w'end of 27th & 28th October. Representing were, Barrie Russ, Dave Foster who were joined by Michal Policht from the Swansea & Cardiff Central League. Playing 5 matches over the 2 days which was a total of 10 matches, best of 5 sets for each player plus 5 matches of doubles, best of 5 sets for Barrie & Dave over the weekend. Great weekends Table Tennis but fair to say the Ice bath was needed come Monday!

All our Teams were in action last week. Our C Team making the long trip up to Anglesey to play Amlwch C in Div 2 which although the score was 9-1 in favour of the home team our team were so close to taking 2 other matches. Our B Team Had a fantastic win over Police B in Div 2 with a 10-0 home win. Our A Team played Conwy A in a Div 1 clash which they lost 3-7. Full report below.

All of our teams were in action last week with our C Team & B Team in Division 2 playing out a Derby Match. Our A Team played twice last week, away to Division 1 Champions Amlwch A then at home to last years runners up Trinity A. The leagues full round up is below... Our C Team got our Clubs involvement underway in the Llandudno District Table Tennis League 2018/19 season underway with a 4-6 home loss to Police B. Great to see our C Team get the season underway in Division 2 with 4 points already in the Bank. Andy Chambers got the C Team underway with an impressive opening game beating Alan Lavery 3-1 to set the mood for the evening.

It was Pre Season Friendly Match night last night for a 2018/19 A Team. They played a home return match against former A Team player and member Ged Haresnape who we transferred out to Craig Y Don for a box of 3* star balls... ;-)

Rhyl Table Tennis were proud of our coach & General Manager Barrie Russ (pictured in the center) who not only represented Wales but also captained the Wales B Team in the over 70's groupings of the Home Nations Vetts Tournament 2018 in Cardiff this weekend (7th-9th Sept). It was a full weekend schedule playing the team events & Doubles over Friday & Saturday then the singles matches on Sunday.

Our A Team were in action again this week playing a friendly away to CYD B. The new home of Ged Haresnape who having been transferred over the summer for a box of 3* balls decided not to play himself other than to take part in the doubles. A Decision he may have regretted afterwards looking at the scorecard ;-)

In preparation of the new season ahead and like previous seasons as players start to slow down or find they can't deal with attack minded players they turn to 'Pimples' In the hope of keeping up there level of competitiveness at league & Club levels they go for the alternative game. The pre season training continues for the start of the forthcoming Llandudno & District Table Tennis League in late September, early October. The revised A Team moved the training up a gear this week with a friendly against local rivals Trinity (B) who like our own A Team are looking forward to the challenge of the Division 1 status in the season ahead.

Some of our members took part in Veterans Tournaments over the summer to keep sharp for the forthcoming season which is due to start in late September early October. Barrie Russ, Alan Simkiss, Pat Peak and ex member Gillian Godfrey traveled over to Halifax for the annual summer tournament. Also taking part in the annual Draycott & Long Eaton Tournament where Barrie, Pat & Gillian attended. All members said they enjoyed the experience & would look forward to attending more in the future.

Rhyl Table Tennis Club in Association with Table Tennis Wales are proud to support the programme being offered from 23rd July thru to 30th August at Canolfan Brailsford which is the Bangor University Sport Centre in Bangor. There will be a range of sports activities held Mon-Fri for kids between the age of 7-13yrs. Our General Manager & Coach Barrie Russ is assisting the Performance Director for Table Tennis Wales, Ryan Jenkins in promoting Table Tennis at this event over the summer.

The Wales Table Tennis Association have awarded General Manager & Coach at Rhyl Community Table Tennis Club the Level 2 Coaching badge. Barrie had to undertake & demonstrate his understanding of a number of disciplines in addition to being 1:1 observed by an officer of the TTW. Barrie commented; " having undertaken by Level 1 badge some years ago to assist with the development of Table Tennis across North Wales i'm delighted to have achieved the level 2 badge now also"

It was the League Presentation Evening last Friday (7th June) held at the Colwyn Bay Cricket Club. Representatives from all three Rhyl Club Teams were there on the night. It really was a good evening in more ways than one, in addition to members of our B & C Teams who were there to collect trophies for their efforts over the season but our own George Evans was also the entertainment on the night playing a selection of songs on the night.

The final match report of the Llandudno District Table Tennis League for the 2017/18 season belonged to our B Team playing in the final of the Handicap Cup against Division 1 side Police A. Our B Team lost narrowly by 20 points in the end but brought about a good end to the season.

Disappointment for our B & C Teams last week in their Cup Final Matches. Our C Team lost out to Division 2 Title winners Trinity C in the Presidents Trophy (H'Cap format) whilst our B Team lost 4-6 to Police B in the Division 2 League Cup Final. Well Rhyl TT Club will dominate the Llandudno League Cup Finals this season after our B Team overturned a 16 pt deficit in the H'cap Cup to beat the Police B with a game to spare...Great result and means they'll go onto compete in both the H'Cap Cup Final & Divisional League Cup Final.

Week 24 was Semi Finals Week of the Llandudno Table Tennis Leagues Divisional Cups. Only our B Team were still left in these competitions and went head to head with Divisional Two rivals Trinity C. Our B team were victorious in sealing a 7-3 win on the night and now progress the final where they will meet Police B who in the Divisional Title lie 4th to our B Teams 2nd place position.

Slightly delayed news round up from Llandudno TT League website but week 23 was all about Cup Matches. All 3 teams went to the tables, A Team away at Trinity A, B Team & C Team at home. Our A Team missing out on a chance to progress in the H'Cap Cup getting beat at Trinity A. Our B Team winning against Div 1 opposition CYD A and our C Team beating 1st Div Y Morfa. it was cup night for our B & C teams last night and what a night it turned out to be too... Our C Team (Div2) recorded their first Match Victory in 2 seasons of playing and what a way to do it. They were playing in the Quarter Finals of the Presidents League Trophy against Division 1 opposition Y Morfa in 5th spot in the league & beat them 557/481 in 40's up H'cap format. Our B Team(Div2) were also up against Div 1 opposition in Conwy A laying 3rd in the league & also won 494/490. Well done Rhyl

Our 3 teams were all in action last week. Our A Team narrowingly missing out on a win against Amlwch B at home in Division 1. Our C Team were away this week to Craig y Don B and although getting beaten 9-1 it was pleasing to see Marcus Jones winning another match for the C team. Our B Team are still in the hunt for the title after taking revenge for the loss a couple of weeks ago to the Police B with a 9-1 thrashing of Police B at home with maximums for Dave Foster & Norman Stagg.

All 3 Teams for Rhyl Table Tennis Club were in action this week. The A Team playing Trinity C away in Div 1 and pulling off a 5-5 draw. The B Team grabbed 10 points and didn't even have a serve a ball following being locked out of the venue away against Denbigh B & our C Team travelled up to play Amlwch C but again were beaten on the night. Well our A Team & B Team were in action last week. Our A Team came close to pulling off a victory and deserved a draw at least losing out to Police A. Our B Team suffered what can only be called "bad day at the office" Not only losing their unbeaten run all season but losing big time to be knocked off top spot in Div2. A note thou, Andy Chambers having step in at literally the 11th hour (30 mins before the match) played superb on the night despite the loss of 9-1.

Although none of our teams played in week 19 as it was being used as a catch up week our B Team had a mention in despatches as Trinity C took a 1 point lead in Div 2 title race over our own B Team. Busy week coming up for our B Team who themselves play a catch up game against Police B on Thursday & will be looking for a win.

Busy week across both Div 1 & 2 last week. Congratulations to our C Team who pulled off a 5-5 Draw against arch rivals Denbigh C this week. Ahead of the leagues match report the news came through that stand in and last years Captain Chris Davies masterminded the draw result. Whilst the normal Team Captain Gill Godfrey was taking in some extra coaching at the Club H/Q after nominating Marcus Jones to step in Chris, Pat and Marcus obtained 5 valuable points for the team.

Well we are past the halfway point in the 2017/2018 league season. Our A & B Team had free weeks last week but our Ladies in the C Team were in action to Amlwch C at home. Although they lost there match 3-7 they did score 3 value points and came close in a couple of the other games too. All 3 teams play this week so we wish them all the best of look. Its all getting a bit tight up the top of Division 2 but our B Team are still edging it.

In the Llanududno TT League all 3 of our teams were in action in the Leagues Handicap Cup competition. It was congratulations to both our A Team & B Team who both progressed thru to the Semi Finals. Following a tough quarter final draw which saw our C Team (Ladies) pitched against one of the top Division 1 Teams Trinity B who ran out winners on the night. A Great week for Rhyl TT Club in the League. Our B Team continued to apply pressure on the Div at the top of the table with a 9-1 win over Anlwch C to remain Top of the Division. If you ever wondered if hard work, practice and coaching will ever pay off then let our B Team be that inspiration for you. After joining the Llandudno District Table Tennis League in September 2016 our B Team have gone from finishing 8th (out of 10 teams) with a total of 68 points in 2016/17 to being in 1st place with 70 points after only 9 matches in 2017/18 and still on an unbeaten run.
