Week 1 Report
The first week saw comfortable 5-0 victories for both Rowhedge C (Alan Burgess & Jared Chelski) and Tollesbury Titans (Tom Lewis & Rob King) over Essex Blades andTollgate A respectively. Pegasus A (Steve Noble & Stan Flint) beat their B team 4-1. It is fair to say that the handicaps did work in the favour of the victors and someadjustments will have to be fairly applied. Rowhedge A, Reapers and Tollgate B had narrow 3-2 victories over Zeroabove, Gt. Horkesley B and Rowhedge B although Zeroabove must count themselves very unluckly as an injury to that wily fox, Ken James, in his first match, left him barely able to stand. However, and to his credit, he managed to win the doubles albeit with a little help from his son Rik. Playing with the new plastic table tennis balls for the first time, we had 4 broken balls from the 30 games played. Not a very good start. There were no major comments or reactions concerning the playing qualities of the new ball but no doubt in a few weeks' time a defeat will be firmly be blamed on the new ball.
