Week 6 Report

Handicaps are not an exact science and when they are adjusted (+ or -) most players knuckle down to their task. Roger Clarke was a fine example of this when, having his handicap reduced, went out and played to his best ability and dogged determination winning both his singles in straight sets to help maintain his teams 100% record in beating rivals Rowhedge C (Alan Burgess & Jared Chelski) 3-2. Hot on their heels are Rowhedge B (Mark Glenister & Pawel Szermo)who beat Gt. Horkesley A (Matt Rogers & Paul Barnes) by the same scoreline with Mark winning both his singles. In both matches the doubles proving, once again, decisive . Tollgate A (Daryl Lott & Roger Hance), still without a win, lost to Pegasus B (Kevin Turner & Jill Canning) 1-4. Roger just edging out Jill in the final set for their only success. Kevin Turner winning both his singles. Zeroabove (Ken & Lauren James) got back to winning ways by beating Essex Blades (Wudong Liu & Chester Chung) 4-1 with a full house from Ken James. Tollgate B (Denise Thompson & Jenny Clarke) beat Reapers (Oli Reynolds & Lajos Zsisku) 4-1 with only the doubles going the full distance. Denise again winning both her singles. Tollesbury Titans (Vic Little & Tadeusc Tymczyszyn), fielding 2 guest players, succumbed to Pegasus A 4-1, with Trevor Treharne winning both his singles.
