Chargers team V Lanchester B

Chargers v Lanchester B

Chargers turned out Max Duffin, Terry Charlton and Paul Salkeld against the experience of John Cook and the youthful

attacking flair of Frances Guthrie and Adam Butler of Lanchester. Both teams are just below the leaders and looking for

as many points as possible to keep them in pole position to challenge league pace setters Lanchester A and Brandon A.

Max was unbeaten in the singles only dropping a set to John Cook, but player of the match was Terry Charlton who won

all his games in 3 ends. Each of the Lanchester team won a game and they won the doubles with John Cook and

Adam Butler against Max and Paul. Final result 6-4 to Chargers.

Draw v Sonics

An excellent game played in a really good spirit between the young team of Sonics with Jack Pugh, Joel England

and Chris Jennings against the more mature Kev Stephen and Dale of Draw.

Games went the full length but Sonics maintained the upper hand throughout with the experienced Jack Pugh

taking all his singles and part of the doubles team that won their game. Joel won two games and Chris won one.

From the Draw team, Kev won one and Stephen won 2 to give a 7-3 result to Sonics.

The money has been put to good use in upgrading facilities at Kimblesworth, with umpire facilities which

eally goes down well with the younger members who are now undertaking Junior umpire courses, and

barriers to prevent the curse of balls disappearing under surrounding chairs.

Please find attached handicap cup details. Second round details are also given

Please note that it is upto the home team to give the away team two options so  would offer Dec 2nd or 9th.

Please encourage players to enter players in the singles competition, I certainly think there are some

generous handicaps. E.g. Jack Pugh would get a 4 point start against Jordan Dove who he beat 11-6 in

all three ends. Jack Preston would get a 14 point start against Dave McAllister who he took an end off

when he played him

Chargers games is already organised for Monday Dec 1st at Silksworth.

Desperadoes v St Gabriels E

With a late withdrawal, the Desperadoes were only fielding John Reid and exciting new talent

Matt Greewood against seasoned campaigners Dave Aldridge, Viv Ford and Derek Buller of

St Gabriel’s. This didn’t knock the Desperadoes back as Matt produced a player of the match

performance winning all his singles. John beat Derek and Viv but Dave got the better of him in their game.

Unfortunately the doubles went the way of St Gabriel’s which meant Desperadoes drew the game at 5-5.
