Simon proved unbeatable on the night and won all three games and also was in the winning doubles with Dan Hutchinson and only dropped one end to Davy McAllister making him the player of the match. With the doubles and with the two Dans winning two each, the Bombers won 8-2 to take a serious rise towards the top end of the table inot third place

Nomads v Blazes

Blazes had a very strong team of attacking John  Leeman, spinner Henry Davies and new lively debutant Angela Crane. Nomads had consistent john Reid who has been improving every game, late substitute Peter Whitfield and in only his second competitive game Paul Salkeld. Blazes expected to do well as most of their team are walking away with the Northumbria Div 4 and so it proved with John Leeman player of the match winning three singles and the doubles and was backed by Henry winning 2 and helping John with the doubles but Nomads came away with a vital 4 points with Peter winning 2 and both Paul and John  Reid winning one each. Final Score Nomads 4 Blazes 6

Sonics v Blues

The young team of Sonics with Haydn Williamson, Jack Pugh and Charlie Coates are proving to be really competitive in the Durham league and up against the Blues team of Paul Henderson, Lynn Reilly and Becca Harrison proved unstoppable and although the Blues put up some resistance in winning the odd end here and there, the match went 10-0 to the Sonics putting them up at the top of the league.

Matfen b V Bombers

This was a catch up game for Bombers and did they catch up! Fielding Lee Maher, Dan Hutchinson and Ian McPherson this 3 were far too powerful for the so far impressive Matfen B who had Alex Holiday Mark Perin and John Henderson. With Dan Hutchinson taking player of the match with 3 singles wins, he was ably supported by Ian and Lee who took 2 each and won the doubles to give Bombers an 8-2 win. Crunch time with the interclub derby next week.

Aces v Cobras

Aces needed a good result to keep them at the top of the league and fielded  Ian McAllister Duncan Fraser and the unbeaten Waldemar Dzwonkowski against the Cobras team of the young talented Arran Kent, and the very experienced pair of Duncan Wraight and Gareth Pearson. Aces played powerful attacking table tennis from the off and with Ian McAllister and Waldemar in good form and winning three singles each and the doubles, Aces ran out 8-2 winners keeping the top position for themselves. Player of the match again goes to Waldemar who did not drop an end in any of his games giving him his 6th player of the match this season and it’s not half way over.
