Ouston B V Chargers

After demolishing League leaders Brandon last week, Ouston returned to a less aggressive team for the visit of the Chargers. Reliable Norman Badger and Dave Nichols were joined by talented youngster Jamie Milroy against Chargers team of Peter Whitfield, Paul Salkeld and John Reid. Peter Whitfield took all his singles matches to take player of the match, but he was the only success for Chargers as they came unstuck 7-3 not managing another game. Result 7-3 to Ouston.

Bombers v Matfen A

With the second half of the season just starting Bombers needed a good result to keep the pressure on at the top of the League and they certainly did that. With Dan Nicholson and the rapidly improving youngster Dan Hutchinson backed up by Lee Maher the Bombers team were too strong for Keith Hodges, Peter Seago and Thomas Manuel for Matfen A.

Dan Hutchinson maintained his excellent recent form by winning all his games and with Dan Nicholson( who won 2) took the doubles. Lee Maher chipped in with 1 game leaving Keith Hodges with a pair and Peter seago 1 leaving the result 7-3 and putting Sacriston 1 point behind league leaders Matfen B. Player of the match Dan Hutchinson.

Matfen B v Comets

This was the mirror fixture of the first game of the season and the result was the same as the first with Matfen B who underlined their championship credentials with a 10 - 0 win. Comets with Colin Pritchard, Nikki and Debbie Irwin were no match for the power and guile of Alexander Holliday(player of the march) John Henderson and David Swann, who won all their games and the doubles as well taking them back to the top of the league.

East Boldon v Sonics

This really showed the benefits of the Friendly league with an absolutely gripping match between Sonics and East Boldon. Sonics added Oliver King to the regular starters of Charlie Coates and Jack Pugh. East Boldon had the very talented Peter Smallcombe, Jordan Dove and the returner Val Lough. Every game was well contested with Peter Smallcombe coming out player of the match winning all his games. Jack Pugh won 2 and with Charlie took the tactical battle in the doubles, Oliver won 2 and Charlie was unlucky taking both Val Lough and Jordan Dove to lengthy games before coming away pointless. Final result a very creditable 5-5 draw keeping both teams in the hunt for the top position, with only three weeks left.
