Comets v Trojans

A tough baptism of fire for Comets against the Trojans who had been demoted from Division 2, who had the young talented Andrew Matfin drafted in with veteran Alan Hedley and Mike Jones.

Comets fielded Colin Pritchard, joined by reliable Nigel Coe and making his debut at this level Paul Salkeld.

The game went 8-2 to Trojans but Comets can count themselves unlucky with all but 2 games going to 4 ends but only Nigel and Coe came away with a win.

Ouston v Aces

Ouston have really upped their game and have the excellent Dave Pringle in their ranks and with Tom Fowle and Neil Rodgers presented formidable opposition. Aces had regulars Ian McAllister, Duncan Fraser and Jon Mawson. Dave took all three of his matches for Ouston giving him the  MVP, and with Neil taking 2 it took the doubles to decide the points and Ian and Duncan came through to split the points 5-5. A good result for Aces inn their first game of the Summer season

Cram Jaguars v Eagles

It is always a friendly but well contested game at Cramlington and with club chair Aubrey playing for them Eagles couldn’t have had a better welcome. Aubrey was joined by two returners to the game who are in their first full season John Murrells and Ray Hately. Eagles had captain Jack Pugh with relative newcomer Ross Clennell and making her debut for Sacriston, up and coming star Becca Harrison.

John Murrells used his serve to good effect to take all his singles and MVP and with Aubrey took the doubles. Jack did best for Eagles taking two games and both Becca and Ross took a game each making the journey worthwhile for Eagles taking 4 points in a 6-4 defeat
