Press Report 27th Dec 2015

SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

As we approach the halfway mark of the season we have clear leaders in the Third and Fourth Divisions who will be difficult to catch in the New Year.  Marldon Tykes, relegated from the Second Division last season, are 17 points clear at the top of the Third Division while the youngsters of Torbay Academy 6 lead the Fourth Division by a massive 28 points.

Three of Torbay Academy 6, six youngsters - Herbie Sage, Jakub Piwowar & Brandon Lewis who between them have only dropped one set out of 38 played this season in Division 4

Denbury Imports are unbeaten, looking very strong and leading at the top of Division One, but Brixham Sharks, NA Batmen and the Torbay Academy sides will certainly not be giving up on the title yet.

The Second Division is the closest division with several teams in contention. Current leaders Brixham Imports do have a 5 point lead, but with many teams being of similar abilities anything could happen here. Imports’ clubmates, the Pirates, are second with the two Newton Abbot sides, Buzzards & Eagles, just behind.

Unfortunately a number of postponements have given an uneven spread of games played across the divisions, leaving several teams with matches in hand.

Individuals who remain unbeaten and have played at least half of their teams’ league matches include Kris Piwowar, Herbie Sage & Curtis Sage of Torbay Academy and Mark Halse of Newton Abbot TTC.
