SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE

The Denbury Imports side of Rory Harries, Giles & Yannick Tushingham had a whitewash win over bottom side the Battlers, to claim back the leadership of the First Division. Torbay Academy 1, with Patrik Cincala unbeaten, had an 8-2 victory over Halwell.

NA Buzzards had mixed fortunes against Brixham sides but ended up heading the Second Division table. They went down 7-3 to a Pirates side that had Clive Banham in fine form, then the following night thrashed the previous leaders Brixham Imports, 9-1. Buzzards’ Mike Dummett & Ed Crawford took maximums, but Terry Stead’s defeat of Buzzards’ Charlie Usher in 5, prevented the whitewash.  NA Eagles keep an interest at the top following their 7-3 win over basement side Denbury Tykes, with Andy Tyrrell & Jim McIvor unbeaten for the Eagles.

Third Division leaders Marldon Tykes stretched their lead at the top to 27 points with a comfortable 8-2 win over Hasbeens, the Tykes’ Chris Garner & Dave Friend were unbeaten. Torbay Academy 4’s Ben Hoare and Matt Cooper were in fine form as the Academy side climb to 3^rd place with an 8-2 victory over Dawlish Diamonds.

Maximums from both Harry Usher & Peter Tarjan consolidated runners-up position for NA Kestrels as they defeated stablemates the Owls 9-1, but they still trail Torbay Academy 6 at the top of the Fourth Division by 12 points. Comeback of the week goes to Torbay Academy 5, who were 5-0 down to NA Kites and fought back to claim a draw. The battle at the bottom of the Fourth Division saw Brixham Swifts win 8-2 at Pure Torre and widen the gap between them both. Bradley Hilton & Tom Andrews gained maximums for the Swifts.

There were comfortable 5-0 wins for Torbay Academy 2 and Taverners in the Dyment Doubles Cup.
