SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE.

 A very strong Denbury Imports team whitewashed 3^rd placed Brixham Sharks to virtually ensure the First Division crown.  Rory Harries, Dawid Gawron & Paul Laverty, never looked in any trouble, dropping just 4 games on the night.  Imports, who have won all 12 of their matches, require just 7 points from their last two matches to clinch the title.

Brixham Pirates’ late challenge for the Second Division title is on course following a fine 9-1 win over Marldon; they are now level on points with stablemates Brixham Imports, but still trail the leaders NA Buzzards by 11 points, the top three all with 3 games to play. Pirates’ Clive Banham and Ben Deakin, who are recovering from injuries, both secured maximums, whilst Marldon’s Nigel Goodman prevented the whitewash.  A fine all-round team performance from Taverners saw them narrowly defeat Torbay Academy 3  6-4.

Marldon Tykes’ whitewash over NA Falcons sees them open up a 21-point gap at the top of the Third Division. Brixham Dolphins move up into runners-up spot following a 7-3 win over NA Falcons, followed by a hard fought draw at NA Hawks. Derek Stratton was unbeaten for the Falcons as he claimed their 3 points, while Nick Shipley won all his games in the Dolphins’ exciting encounter with the Hawks. The Dolphins recovered from 2-5 down, with the last 3 sets all going to the wire: first Stuart Shipley beat Mike Halse 12-10 in the 5^th, then Nick Shipley beat Mike Coxhead 12-10 also in 5, before the twins joined forces to again win the deciding game 12-10 to earn the draw.  Mike Wickens was in fine form, with two maximums, as he helped his Hasbeens team to victories over the Dawlish sides, 9-1 over Drifters and 7-3 over Diamonds.

N A Falcons' Derek Stratton

NA Owls’ Dylan Bayliss was the star in his team’s narrow 6-4 victory over Brixham Panthers. He followed up his first ever league maximum with another one the following night as he turned out as a reserve for clubmates the Kestrels, helping them to a draw against Torbay Academy 5.  Brixham Panthers, with the help of a couple of their Swifts clubmates playing as reserves, defeated NA Kites 7-3.
