ALBANY FLORISTS-SPONSORED SOUTH DEVON & TORBAY TABLE TENNIS LEAGUE
The weather has seriously affected the fixture list this week with just 4 games being played in the early part of the week, while 12 matches have had to be postponed.
NA Batmen reclaimed the runners-up spot from Brixham Sharks in the First Division, following an excellent 7-3 victory to leap frog them in the table. Batmen’s Naomi Jackson just squeezed past Adam Shipway 16-14 in the 5th to claim a fine maximum.

Two Newton Abbot teams were challenging for the 2nd Division title, but the Falcons’ convincing 9-1 win over the Eagles has dented the Eagles’ hopes. The evening started well for the Eagles, as Andy Tyrrell defeated David Davies in the first set, but that was the only point they managed as Giles Tushingham and Ed Crawford maximums saw the Falcons home and into the runners-up position just a point behind Brixham Seals, and with a game in hand. Martin Dilkes was again the star for Taverners, but his maximum was not enough to defeat Marldon who came out on top 6-4.

The 4th Division’s only encounter saw Dawlish Drifters overcome NA Vultures 7-3, despite another fine maximum from the Vultures’ Pete Sercombe. Prabhu Kashap, Don Beesley and Tony Bussell were too consistent for Andy Guy and Jeff Herne, but could not get past Sercombe who has yet to lose since joining the Vultures in January.
