The reason for my Retirement is that I have had serious illness and an operation over the past 2 years, my legs have gone and now being 84 years old I am not able to compete as i used to.

I have handed Captaincy of Hasbeens over to Richard Fitzgerald and it would not be fair to register with the Team, so giving Richard the problem of feeling he ought to select me for matches knowing i was dragging the team down.

Therefore I decided , with reluctance, that I should withdraw from League competition.

I trust this explains my reasons for the decision I have taken.
