An Adam Shipway maximum for Brixham Sharks spoilt Newton Abbot Batmen’s attempt to leapfrog club mates NA Buzzards at the top of the First Division as the Sharks and Batmen shared the points. Torbay Academy 1, with a game in hand, are closing in on the leaders, their latest victory a 9-1 win over Halwell. Kris Piwowar & Patrik Cincala unbeaten for the Academy. A mix-up over the date meant that NA Condors were players short for their trip to Brixham Gulls, Dave Davies battled hard for the Condors and picked up a couple of wins.
Adam Shipway – Brixham Sharks
NA Eagles have stretched their lead at the top of the Second Division following a fine 9-1 win against Brixham Pirates. Ed Crawford and Jim McIvor were unbeaten for the Eagles, with Nicholas Shipley picking up the Pirates’ point. Another Warren Ngai maximum was enough to see 2nd placed Torbay Academy 2 squeeze past Taverners 6-4. A second win for Denbury Tykes, 6-4, lifts them from the foot of the table to be replaced by their opponents Brixham Trawlers. Paul Hine was the star for the Tykes. Chris Baron and Jeremy Broad were both unbeaten as NA Falcons defeated Marldon 8-2.
NA Eagles – Ed Crawford, Jim McIvor, Andy Tyrrell
Just a couple of games in the Third Division; Marldon Tykes took their opportunity to hit the top with an 8-2 win against Torbay Academy 5, with Steve Tyler taking a maximum for the Tykes. NA Kestrels and Torbay Academy 4 shared the points, with the Kestrels doing well to come back from 4-1 down to lead 5-4, but failing to take the win, losing the final doubles.
Hasbeens lead the Fourth Division following a 7-3 victory over Torbay Academy 6, the Mikes Coxhead and Wickens both with maximums for the Hasbeens. Second-placed Torre Titans, with another Chris Harper maximum, were held to a 5-5 draw by club mates Torre Panthers. Torre Tigers were in fine form as they defeated NA Owls 8-2, with Jean Neafcy and Steve Tucker unbeaten for the Tigers. NA Kites, with Robert Ferguson stepping up and gaining the man of the match award, defeated Dawlish Drifters 7-3.

Torbay Academy 7‘s youngsters were far too good for NA Merlins as Nick Turner, William Bevan and Ivan Vaplaks secured a whitewash victory, and increased the Academy’s lead at the top of the Fifth Division. Another Andy Guy maximum helped his Vultures’ side to a 6-4 win over Dawlish Delights. An excellent performance from NA Osprey’s Rob Ferguson, Ollie Pead and Henry Greet, as they climbed several places in the table with a whitewash win over Brixham Swifts.
