South Devon & Torbay Table Tennis League

Singles Super League

This season has seen the return of the “home and away only” set of fixtures. Although it’s great to see more teams entering the league, it has meant that the playing format has had to change in order to accommodate the additional teams (nine teams per division instead of eight) resulting in all teams having fewer matches.

It was therefore proposed by Brian Pengelly at the September Committee Meeting to include a “singles” league in the “spare” weeks to satisfy the appetite of our hungry table tennis players who like to play competitively at least once a week! Brian drafted a plan and this was agreed by the committee at the November meeting.

This gives you the chance to compete on an individual basis against other players of similar standard (even your team-mates!) in mini-leagues to be played in one evening over four sessions (w/c 9th December 2013, 20th January 2014, 10th March 2014 and 7th April 2014 as per the handbook) on the Thursday at Brixham Community Sports Centre and Friday (for the top division) at Torbay Leisure Centre. Depending on numbers we may play on the Wednesday at Brixham Community Sport Centre too.

Please find, by clicking on, an entry form and rules.  Please have a look through the rules to get a better understanding of what we hope will become a permanent event for our league.

The cost to enter will be £10 which will go towards the hire of the halls (Brixham Table Tennis Club and Torbay Leisure Centre).

We very much hope we have a high number of entries as the results will be processed to produce player rankings which will be used for handicapping purposesand selection for national team events representing the South Devon & Torbay League such as a Men’s team in the British League, a Junior Boys team and even, perhaps, a Veterans team!

The closing date for entries is Friday 6th December 2013, so please get your entries in by then to support this unique idea! You can email Alan Maynard (alan@extraeffect.co.uk) your intention to enter so we have a good idea of numbers.
