They also had a good 5-4 win over Basildon Hospital where Dennis Squirrell was their star in a game decided in the final doubles 11-9 in the fifth end with victory for Dennis and Laurie Witt over Clive Beauchamp and Kevin Smart. Two wins for ace defender Geoff Banthorpe over Ron Coutts and Sarah Mapes was the only points that Canvey "B" gained in their 7-2 loss to RESSC who had Paul Ogden unbeaten.

Canvey "C" beat Rawreth Juniors "A" 8-1 in Division 4, the Juniors sole point coming from Matthew Barber beating Terry Castile. Harry Keys and Archie Blackburn were unbeaten for Canvey. Wakering are still to drop a point after another 9-0 win over Hockley "C". It will be interesting to see if they can get through the whole season without dropping a single point, Chris Jacob
