Seasons Greeting to all SDTTL Members,
We are fast approaching the halfway point in our season, coinciding with the Christmas and New Year break. Your Committee would like to wish you and your families a Happy Christmas and a good 2018.
The first half of the season has gone well, with good feedback for the new Postponement rule and, to date, there are no postponements in any Division. This has provided for a much better League Competition, a lot less work for the Captains running the Teams and the Divisional Results Secretaries looking after the Divisions.
The Hardbat Tournament in early November went very well, followed by an enjoyable evening for raising money for the Essex Air Ambulance Charity. A full Report on this is on our Web Site.
Our Quiz Evening, also in November, was another successful Fund Raiser for our League, with circa £400 being raised, which goes towards the costs of running our Annual Closed Championships and again a Report is on our Web Site
The Weekly Reports from our Divisional Results Secretaries have been regularly sent, keeping everyone up-to-date with the divisional progress. The Captains have all worked well this Season sending a snippet or two about their matches.
On the Junior front our 3 Junior Clubs: Hockley, Hullbridge and Rawreth have a large group of Members, well supported by their Coaches, Parents and their Club Volunteers and our Junior Scene is as buoyant as it has ever been.
The 2018 Annual Closed Championships. We pride ourselves on the fact that our Annual Closed Tournament is one of the largest Local League Competitions in the Country. However, with a large competition, we can become a victim of our own success in not being able to complete events. So this Season we are looking at playing some group stages of certain events at different venues during the free week in our fixture list.
•• We would like to remind you that the Closing Date Of Entry for the 2018 Southend Closed Championships is the 15th January 2018. Some of you have already entered using the e-button on our Web Site. It would help your Championships' Committee if you could send in your entry as soon as possible, which helps us plan the schedule of events. Entry details will be found on the SDTTL Web Site and on our Mobile App
Division 3 Captains are reminded that the second half Constitution of your Season has not yet been published and is dependent on all results of the first half of the Season being sent in on time, in order for us to then split the division in two. We only have a small window to do this, so please work with us in order that we can get the info back out to you as soon as possible. Thank you
