Gordon Trinder took a two game lead in each of his three sets against Shottery B only to then see his opponents stem the tide and win over the distance. The Henley B player was unfortunate to lose out to Tony Remes, who finished the evening with a treble, together with Tim Fell and Robin Hale who both went home with braces. Fell came within a whisker of a perfect performance as he secured the first two games against Robert McCluskey and, after losing the third, then led 10 - 8 in the fourth but was unable to press home the advantage. McCluskey was also able to gain the upper hand over Hales thereby chalking up both his team's successes as the fixture finished 8 - 2 in Shottery's favour.

One of the closest matches of the season took place at FISSC when they played host to Littleton. Graham Briscombe made an all-too-rare appearance for the visitors contributing both his usual good humour and an unbeaten performance. However he needed to pull out all the stops against Peter Bruce-Moore who took a 9 - 3 lead in their fifth game only for Briscombe to hit a purple patch and win the next eight points. Bruce-Moore also went the distance with Derek Close but, this time, fortune smiled more kindly and he squeezed home by the narrowest of margins to finish with a brace. Malcolm Smith and Peter Florence also got on the card for the Farmers although the latter was taken to the wire by Tony Spinks. The outcome of the fixture hinged on the doubles where Smith and Bruce-Moore took a two game lead against Close and Spinks only for their opponents to haul themselves level. However the FISSC pairing mounted a last ditch effort to clinch the decider 11 - 9 to win the set and ensure honours were even on the night.
