Royal Mail were unable to call upon the experience of Nello Mauri and Malcolm Heritage for their visit to Ashorne which enabled the hosts to record a surprise victory. Wilf Chan notched a brace for the Postmen, although he had to overcome an early deficit against George Mudie, while Richard Dalrymple also chalked up a pair after initially trailing to Steve Bolton. However neither player was able to get the better of John Hunt who provided the backbone to the village team's victory with a treble. Mudie and Bolton also got on the card but the final outcome of the evening was decided by the doubles which went Ashorne's way to ensure they finished 6 - 4 to the good.

West Warwicks defeated Shottery C 9 - 1 after perfect performances from Alison Stewart and Andy Rowland. However Rowland was made to work hard by Rob Poole in what was easily the set of the evening. The Shottery player won the first two games before the West Warwicks captain snatched the third 13 - 11. Thereafter both players displayed all out attack and the outcome could have gone either way but Rowland just edged home after securing the decider 11 - 9. However Poole was subsequently able to acquire his team's consolation victory after overturning loss of the first game against Colin Bishop. Gordon Round made a rare appearance in the doubles for Shottery C and was instrumental in acquisition of the opening game but the experience of Rowland and Bishop eventually proved too much.

Unfortunately for Shottery C their next opponents 'Royal Mail were able to restore Mauri and Heritage to their line-up. Mauri celebrated his return with a treble while Heritage and Dalrymple each recorded braces. Once more it was Poole who ensured his team avoided the whitewash and he and Bowles were also within a whisker of claiming the doubles. After being soundly beaten in the first two games the pair fought back well to force a decider where they were unlucky to lose out 12 - 10 thereby ensuring Royal Mail went home with a favourable 8 - 2 scoreline.
