Last seasons champions and runners were drawn to play each other on the first day of the Stroud League table tennis season, and it looks like they will both be in contention for honours again this season when the points were shared at five each. Olly Tyndall was on great form for the home side, Forest Green A, winning all three to be man of the match. Mark Farrow and Lee Thomas each bagged a brace for the visiting Woodchester A.
Other results this week saw Cirencester win 6-4 at Phoenix B and Yate beat the division’s new side, Frampton B 9-1.
Robbie Hawkins scored 3 singles wins to help his Randwick A to a 6-4 victory against the visiting Phoenix C. Pessimists lost 1-9 at home to the visiting Whiteshill A, with Steve Greening going un beaten. David Metcalfe won his three singles for Frampton C as they drew five all at home to Whiteshill B.
Phoenix D beat the visiting Cam & Dursley A 7-3 and there were similar results for Phoenix E who won 7-3 at Randwick C and Randwick B overcame Phoenix F, also by 7-3.
Cam & Dursley B defeated the visiting Phoenix H 6-4 while at the same venue Phoenix I beat Cam & Dursley C 8-2. Nailsworth B lost at home to Phoenix G by two points to eight, while Frampton D lost 3-7 to the visiting Randwick D. Phoenix J completed the weeks matches with a 7-3 victory over the visiting Randwick E.
