Week 1
Division 1:
Thornbury A, the reining champions, started the new season with two matches in two days. On Tuesday they visited Yate and thanks to maximums from Dave Reeves and Julian Elsbury came away with a 7-3 victory. The next night they entertained Woodchester B and with a different three players finished with the same result, 7-3 with Anthony Kent scoring a max. Phoenix A started their campaign with a convincing 9-1 defeat of the visiting Cirencester. Laurence Manley and Dave Hadley scored a max apiece for the home side. Phoenix B suffered a home defeat at the hands of Woodchester A for whom Keith Armstrong won three singles as his side ran out 6-4 winners. Yate played their second match of the season which ended in a five all draw at Frampton A, Andy Cox scoring a max for the visitors. Forest Green A had a convincing 9-1 victory against the visiting Frampton B with maximums from Ben Glover and Dave Adamson.

Division 2:
Newly promoted Cam & Dursley A entertained Whiteshill Vets A and lost 2-8 as Steve Greening and Alan Churchill returned maximums. Randwick A won by a similar score when they beat the visiting Phoenix C thanks to maximums from George Evans and Declan Fardon. Dave Pugh scored 3 points but couldn’t prevent Nailsworth A losing 3-7 at home to Thornbury B. Frampton C just edged a close fought match with the visiting Whiteshill Vets B, nobody could dominate as the home side won 6-4. The week was concluded when Forest Green B resoundingly beat Randwick B 10-0 at Nailsworth! John Pobjoy, John Crowther and Jimmy Haycraft all going unbeaten.

Division 3:
Woodchester C entertained Whiteshill Vets C and had a hat trick of wins from John Bunn to give them a narrow 6-4 victory. Woodchester D had a more convincing win at home the following night when they beat Randwick C 9-1 thanks to maximums from Pat Pumphry and Roger Davis. Thornbury C had a comfortable 8-2 victory against the visiting Phoenix D, Stephen Biles and Viv Wilkie both going unbeaten. Jim Hurford made the difference in a close match with the visiting Phoenix E, scoring a max in their 6-4 victory. Sam McIvor guided Phoenix F to a 7-3 victory against the visiting Cam & Dursley B scoring a maximum for his side. 

Division 4:
Cam & Dursley C whitewashed the visiting Forest Green D, Nigel Meredith, Mark Collins and John Powell all going unbeaten. Forest Green C fared a little better, losing 3-7 at home to Phoenix H although no one player could dominate. Nailsworth B had “new boy” Alun Davis to thank as they beat the “new side” Thornbury D as he scored a max in their 6-4 win. Randwick E scored an impressive 8-2 victory over their visitors from Nailsworth C, Theo Laffort and Pablo Carrington each scoring maximums. Theo in particular came back from two down to beat the seasoned campaigner Mike May in five. The week was completed with a five all draw between Phoenix G and Frampton D. Ian Ashton scored a maximum for the home team Phoenix G.
