Welcome to the 2015/16 season. This will be the first season since this League was started by Peter Fordham in 2001 that Peter will not be involved.  I’m sure we all wish Peter well in his new life in Clacton. His contribution to this League has been immense and a huge vote of thanks must go to him for all the time and effort he put in over these years to give juniors in Suffolk and the Cambridgeshire Border the opportunity to experience their first competitive games. Thank you, Peter.

Thanks must also go to Maurice Fearn for stepping in and running the League so effectively at short notice last season.

If those of us at BSETTC who have taken on the running of this league for 2015-16 can get anywhere near close to matching our predecessors I’m sure we will be very happy.

The season starts next Saturday 28th November 2015 starting at 1.30pm prompt.  As usual our venue will be the King Edward VI School, Lower Hall in Bury St. Edmunds.  There will be three rounds of matches – 28th November 2015, 9th January 2016 and 23rd January 2016.  A tournament will be held on Saturday 27th February and details of this will be published in the New Year.

Each round will consist of matches scheduled to start at 1.30pm, 3.00pm and 4.30pm.  Teams will play either two, three or four matches in each round. Please see the Fixtures tab for details.

The number of teams entering this season is down by two to five in each of the two Divisions.  This has made fixture scheduling a bit tricky so please bear with the organisers as we had to maintain a balance of ensuring the afternoon didn’t go on too long into the evening, the cost of the hall and the entry charge for each team. As you will be aware hall hire costs continue to increase year on year.

Whilst there is no League requirement to provide match reports, if some of those supporting their teams would care to pen (or keyboard) a few words about some of the matches and let me have them, I will get them on the website.  I’m sure some of you are experienced in providing match reports for the Bury St. Edmunds League!

We hope everyone who plays and supports the teams will enjoy these Saturday afternoons and that all matches are played in a competitive but friendly manner.
