As we approach the Christmas period, the Tamworth and District Table Tennis League is in full swing.
In Division One, Netherseales beat Lichfield Kings and Queens 7-3. Andy Rose won a hat trick of games for Netherseales, while Jason Hadley scored twice. A brace from Di St Ledger and a Dave Knight single retained some vital points for Lichfield. Wilnecote Raiders beat Lichfield Jets 9-1. Andy Bache and James Rudge were undefeated for Raiders, while Steve Atkinson won two games, beaten only by a good performance from Mark Balant. Tamworth Youth Club Retros beat Netherseal Cedar 9-1. Andy Jackson and Michael Bree won all of their games for Retros, and Carl Mountjoy won two, beaten in five games by Steve Farrington. Sutton Coldfield Panthers beat TYC Wanderers 9-1. Matt Satchwell won the only point for Wanderers, and Mike Brown and Alan Caffery were unbeaten for Panthers.
In Division two, Rugby Club Kings beat Hopwas Jokers 7-3 in a hard fought match. The Kings team of Jonathan Pilling, Ian Gould and Dean Snowden each scored twice, beaten by a treble from Martin Tallis. Spital Daredevils beat Netherseal Oak 6-4. Alan and Claire Baker both won two games for Daredevils, and Stuart Spalding won one, while Oak saw Brian Hagger unbeaten.
In Division Three, Kingsbury Cruisers beat Burntwood 10-0, with the team of Izzy Morrell, John Howell and Steve Gardner proving too strong for the young Burntwood side. Curdworth Wheelers Pongers beat Netherseal Ash 8-2. Pete Bromley and Rich Grove could not be beaten for Pongers, but Graham Clarke and George Parry scored singles against Nick Bromley to retain two points for Ash.
