Teams have their eyes on the tables as they approach the Christmas break.
In Division One, Netherseals beat Lichfield Jets 9-1. The winning team of Matt Satchwell, Danny Sullivan and Jason Hadley all won their singles games, but the resilient youngsters from Jets fought back to retain a point in a close doubles game. Lichfield Kings and Queens beat Tamworth Youth Club Retros 7-3. Ken Read and Di St. Ledger were undefeated for Lichfield, and Andrew Callaway and Steve Smith both scored singles for Retros, and then teamed up to win the doubles match, securing a crucial extra point for the team.
In Division Two, after going more than 12 months without a win, Rugby Kings have back-to-back victories in the space of seven days after a win at Lichfield Barons and then beating Rugby Oddballs 7-3 this week. This was a true local derby, which Kings usually lose, but with Jonathan Pilling and Dean Snowden unbeaten Kings will be celebrating this Christmas as team morale has been lifted. Hopwas Jokers also beat Curdworth Wheelers Pongers 8-2.
In Division Three, TYC Lambs narrowly beat TYC Boffs 6-4. Matt Thompson won a hat-trick of games for Lambs, and James Shaw won two of his games. Sam Till and Sam Bernstein both scored singles for Boffs, and Shaun Guest scored a brace. There was also a 6-4 score-line between Netherseal Ash and Lichfield Musketeers, with Lichfield emerging victorious. Luke Sargent could not be beaten, and Morgan Sykes and Daniel Greathead both scored singles. George Parry and Graham Clarke both scored doubles for Ash.
