Week 1- 30th September 2013 Match Report

Division One

Curdworth Wheelers Pingers opened their campaign in week one
of the Tamworth Table Tennis League Division one with a commanding 9-1 victory
against newly promoted Kingsbury Tornadoes. Rob Sheldon and Dawn Sagoo were in
fine form remaining unbeaten on the night ably supported by Tony Stewart with
two. Dave Morrell salvaged a point for the Tornadoes. Elsewhere in Division One
Jason Hadley was the star performer for Netherseales with a superb treble in
their clash with TYC Wanders supported Stephen Smith with a brace and Danny
Sullivan with one. Jason and Danny went on to win the doubles in four. Matt
Satchwell scored twice in reply for the home side with Andy Walker bagging a
point. Lichfield Jets secured a narrow 6-4 win away to Rugby Kings thanks to
pairs from Gary Dawson, Mark Balant and Jack Gillespie. Dean Snowden played
really well for his double for the home side and proceeded to win the doubles
with Johnathan Pilling, Johnathan also contributing a single.

Division 2

In Division Two it is another Curdworth side Curdworth
Wheelers Pongers setting the pace with a 7-3 home triumph against Lichfield
Musketeers. Braces from Rich Grove, Pete Bromley and Rob Bromley and a
Pete/Rich doubles win in three. Yuriy Slobodyuk battled for the Musketeers winning
two of his matches and John Bell chipped in with a single. Spital Daredevils
ground out a narrow 6-4 home win against Jokers B despite an impressive treble
by Richard Howes for the Jokers. The contest of the night was his narrowest of
wins over Alan Baker 11-7 in the fifth. Colin Cartwright contributed the other
point for the Jokers. For the Daredevils Claire Baker and Alan Baker scored
twice combining to take the doubles in three. Stuart Spalding claimed a singles
win. The clash between Hopwas Jokers A and Netherseal Oak ended honours even
with a hard fought draw. Alastair Tallis notched up two for the Jokers and took
the doubles in three with Martin Tallis. Martin and David Tucker also helped
out with singles. Mike Harker and Brian Hagger replied with braces for Oak with
new man Graham Kettle adding a point.

Division 3

Kingsbury Cruisers are flying high at the top of Division 3
following their 8-2 mauling of TYC Lambs despite a fine double for James Shaw.
A hat-trick of wins from Steve Gardner and two-a-piece from Isobel Morrell and
John Howell and a Steve/Isobel double win proved decisive. Lichfield Barrons
emerged 7-3 victors in their clash with Kingsbury Crowns thanks mainly to Peter
Collins winning all his matches and Barbara Jones played a fine supporting role
with two. Anand Kaila scored once. Andy Brown took a well-crafted double for
the Crowns and Steve Allen also bagged a point.  Another match finishing 7-3 was that between
TYC Futures and Spital Mondays with Futures emerging winners. A Sam Bernstein
maximum, pairs from Zorro Kasarge and Ryan Coady and a Ryan/Zorro doubles
triumph was too much for the Mondays. John Kinson played well for the Mondays with
two supported by Bel Forster who contributed a point.
