Les Constable's report on the season
The 1958/59 season again saw New Chesterton Institute in the ascendancy and
their second team also were far up the league. Other teams that challenged for
top positions were Wesley I, University Press I and Telephones I. John
Thurston was still playing as well as ever and again was the mainstay of the
NCI team. Great Ouse River Board I topped Division 2, NALGO Division 3,
Newmarket Division 4, Torchbearers Division 5, Wilburton Division 6 and
St Georges II Division 7.
In the Knockout Handicap Trophy NALGO defeated Junior YMCA by seven games
to two with John Harding and Ivor Baldwin winning all their games. Ponder (D)
and Andrews were successful for the YMCA boys against T.Barley.

Chris Reeve was successful in winning the United Hospitals Cup.
In a friendly match played at Impington Village College on the 6th March 1959,
a Cambridge team drew with Ipswich 5-5. The Cambridge team was Chris Reeve,
Keith Chapman, Bryn Thompson, Heather Collings and V.Sizer.
