Week 4

Wakefield League Week 4 round up

 

PWTT v Denhale Barnsley

Kevin Plowman captained his team of Roger Hales and Nicky Flynn as  they took on Denhales regular three of Chow, Graham and Phil.

PWTT were quickly 2-0 down as Chow beat Kev over 4 very competitive sets and Graham dished up the same fate to Roger. Luckily Nicky arrived to turn things round as he accounted for Phil. Chow next beat Roger, Kev got the better of Phil and Nicky played some outrageous shots in beating Graham 3-1, but credit to Graham who himself hit some absolute beauties in the 3rd set. Kev and Roger just managed to sneak a win in the doubles over regular opponents Chow and Graham and after Roger then lost to Phil the match was tied at 4 all.

Nicky came through with a 3-1 victory against Chow and Kev played very well to beat Graham in 3 tough sets. 6-4 to PWTT

 

Eastmoor  B v Barnsley

David Lloyd Thompson, Carl Keegan and Tyrone Fleming had Colin Jones, Ray Hurst, and Brian Isam to contend with.

Colin made a strong start to the match winning convincingly against Dave and Ray did likewise against Carl. Tyrone hit and spun his way to a 3-1 win over Brian before Colin restored Barnsley advantage beating Carl in straight sets. Brian now got his first win of the night beating Dave over 4 tough sets and Ray fought past a determined Tyrone to guarantee they couldn’t lose. The doubles was highly competitive and Barnsley had to come back from 2-1 down to get the win over Carl and Tyrone.

Carl beat Brian to leave hope of a point bur further wins for Colin and Ray ended that ambition. 8-2 to Barnsley

 

Eastmoor A v Eastmoor C

John Keegan, Graham Wylie and Chris Inman came up against their junior team of  Charlie Brown, Paul Haycock and Anthony Nakibinge. Although there were some close matches the senior team came away with 4 points after a 10-0 win. Paul put up really stern resistance forcing John and Chris into a 4th set and losing 3 sets to deuce in them. The doubles likewise was hotly contested with 3 of the 4 sets going the distance.
