Wakefield League Week 5 round up

PWTT v Eastmoor C

John Flynn, Lee York and Kevin Plowman had to contend with Paul Haycock, Anthony Nakibinge and John Murgatroyd.

The first match on was John Flynn against Paul and it went all the way with Paul taking the 4th and 5th for a fine win. Lee ‘equalised’ beating Anthony and Kev put PWTT ahead beating John M. Although all the following matches went against them Eastmoors trio played some great points but couldn’t quite maintain the form long enough for any wins. So 3 wins apiece for Lee and Kev and 2 for John Flynn made the score 9-1.

Barnsley v Eastmoor  A

Ray Hurst, Brian Barrett and Colin Jones were up against the top Eastmoor team of  Chris Inman, Graham Wylie and John Keegan. Ray started the events off with a hard fought 3-1 win over Chris and this was followed by Brian and Graham who battled over the full distance with Graham taking the final set. Colin took a 3-1 win over John and Brian lost out to Chris 3-0. Ray eased to a 3-0 win over John so when Colin lost to Graham the match score was 3-3. Ray and Colin outgunned John and Chris to take the doubles but Brian lost to John in another 5 set thriller. 4-4. Colin and Chris shared the first 2 sets and Colin secured another point with 2 narrow wins in the 3rd and 4th sets. This left Graham the unenviable task of stopping Ray, and like the rest of us he found this too much. A good battle with Barnsley winning 6-4.

Denhale v Eastmoor B

Denhales three of Chow, Graham and reserve Paul Haycock. came up against Paul Aldcroft, Carl Keegan and Tyrone Fleming.

Chow and Paul A had a close fought encounter with Paul taking it 3-1, Graham restored parity beating Carl 3-1 himself. Paul H and Tyrone had a battle royal with never more than a couple of points in it, Tyrone winning in the 5th 11-9. Graham became Paul As’ second victim of the night losing 3-0 and Chow and Tyrone enjoyed a great match with Chow taking the last 2 sets 9 and 10 to make the match score 2-3. Paul H fell in 4 sets to Carl before the excellent doubles pair of Chow and Graham hit back with a straight sets doubles win. Thereafter the last 3 matches all went to Eastmoor  Graham lost to Tyrone, Paul A beat Paul H and Carl overcame Chow for a 7-3 victory for Eastmoor B
