Week 12

PWTT v Eastmoor A

Nicky, Kevin and Roger had to contend with Chris, Graham Nutter and Paul Kirby at a slightly warmer “Hecky” in this match. Nicky got matters underway with a 3-1 win against Chris with Kev then losing 3-1 to reserve Graham. Roger found Pauls spin just too much to handle and this brought Kev and Chris to the table, they shared 4 closely fought sets with the vital 3 going to Chris. After losing the first set 16-18 to Paul, Nicky looked to be on his way to beating him but from 8-4 up in the 3rd he slipped to defeat in that and lost a close run 4th set too. Roger came close to getting a win against Graham but fell to a 3-2 loss. Kevin got a great win against Paul, Roger got mauled by Chris but Nicky rescued a point beating Graham . 7-3 to Eastmoor

Eastmoor C v Denhale

Paul, John and Charlie matched up against Chow, Graham and Dave. Paul and Chow started this close fought match with Paul converting the 5th set into a fine win over Chow. John however found Graham on top form and lost in straight sets. Charlie got the better of the improving Dave and John battled gamely against Chow but to no avail losing over 3 tight sets. Paul found Dave a tough nut to crack but prevailed 3-1 and Graham took his second win of the match beating Charlie. Paul and John found Chow and Graham too difficult a pairing to get past putting Denhale 4-3 up. John now played Dave and after 4 sets the score was level but John managed to eke out an advantage and came home 11-7 in the decider. Charlie lost out to Chow leaving Paul and Graham to put the match to bed. Graham, on top form proved the stronger to dive Denhale a 6-4 victory.

Eastmoor B v Barnsley

Eastmoor B had Paul, Carl and Tyrone to face the might of Stuart, Ray and Colin, no easy task. Paul and Stuart started matters off and Stuart took this 3-0. Carl suffered the same fate against Ray but Tyrone went a little better taking one set off Colin losing 3-1. Carl came up against a rampant Ray next and got no quarter. Paul now took on Colin and he established a 2-1 lead but then got pegged back in the 4th, however he summoned his best shots and emerged the winner 11-7 in the decider. Tyrone then suffered like we all do losing to Ray 3-0. Paul and Carl had a good go against Ray and Stuart in the doubles but lost 3-1. Carl took the first 2 sets off Colin but couldn’t convert it into a win and Tyrone found Stuart as obdurate an opponent as ever losing that 3-0. Finally Paul succumbed to Ray for a 9-1 win to Barnsley
