WDHA Royals A 8 v St John A 2
With St John lacking the services of Grant Timms for a 3 week period, they were unlikely to repeat the win of the previous week when his team mates rose to the occasion. Against a strong Royals outfit they went down heavily in 7 of the 9 singles, but Richard Wills surprisingly won with ease 11-7, 11-3, 11-8 against Abin Islam and with Pete Boustred and Jon Perkins so heavily beaten in the singles, surprised with a 12-10, 11-9, 8-11, 11-7 doubles win over Mike Hawes and Nitin Patel. For the hosts, Patel, who had failed to register in his previous outings scored an excellent treble, highlight being a 8-11, 11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 11-3 win over Wills.
Wanderers B 5 v Thrapston 5
A sign of the strength of the division was that prior to the start of this game, both of these sides despite performing well occupied the bottom 2 spots. After his brilliant start Pete Briggs has faltered of late and scored his 4th singleton in a row, going down to Kettering League team mate Paul Goodman 5-11, 11-7, 5-11, 12-14 and Scott Dixon 10-12, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, but avoided a first blank with an 11-7, 11-6, 11-6 win over Bob Hickson. Chris Warliker, who never does things by half made up for the previous weeks blank by registering his first treble of the season. He certainly got his monies worth, all going to 5 ends, highlight being a 12-10 final leg victory over Dixon. Although failing to register, Bob Hickson went to five against Warliker and Williams and gained some reward for an unlucky outing when joining with Goodman to gain a draw with a 14-12, 11-4, 11-4 doubles win over Williams and Briggs.
Chesterwell C 8 v Wanderers D 2
This good 8-2 home win for Chesterwell C sees them jump 2 places in the league whilst bottom club Wanderers D can only look forward to a much better season next time round. Maxine Shears led the victors in fine style with another good maximum and was well backed up with doubles from Clare and Stuart Coles. Roger Ellingham and Graham Babbage salvaged a single win apiece for the visitors before Maxine & Clare gained their team's 8th point with a 3 set doubles victory over Ellingham & Babbage.
Old Grammarians A 7 v Wanderers C 3
The O.G.'s fine run continues and their 7th win of the season sees them regain their 3rd place in the league with this 7-3 victory against Wanderers C. Mick Ball led the way with another great treble and was well supported with good doubles from Phil Laurence and Martyn Reeves. The Wanderers' James Findlay kept the scoreline respectable with a fighting double and later teamed up with Tony Wallis to gain a good doubles victory over Laurence & Reeves.
Westfield B 1 v Chesterwell B 9
Westfield were probably expecting a hard time against the impressive Chesterwell B and they did themselves no favours by only fielding 2 players. Daniel Mann and Luke Hughes both fired great maximums and Johnathon Driscoll added a further double whilst Westfield's Steve Fuller saved his side from a whitewash with a fighting single win of his own. Westfield captain Mark Holly gave what was probably his best performance for a long time and was desperately unlucky to end the night pointless after taking Mann to a 5th set and then taking Driscoll to a 4th.
Stanwick VHTTC 10 v Higham Harriers B 0
New league leaders Stanwick kept up the pressure on their nearest rivals with another clean sweep and their task was made a whole lot easier when the Harriers only fielded 2 players. Ian Baldock, Graham Taylor and Geoff Neville taking all points on offer whilst the Harriers only bright spot of the night came when Neil Stevens took an end off the unbeaten Baldock but that was as good as it got.
WDHA Challengers B 8 v Higham Band B 2
With the top 4 teams having played the same number of games, Challengers are now 10 points ahead and any of the next 4 teams could take 2nd place, including Old Gramms B, who are currently in 5th place, but with 2 matches in hand. Deirdre Kiziak won the only 2 points for Band, which see the team fall down the division a place. David Carrigan gave Kavish Dodhia a good run for his money going down 8-11, 11-9, 11-13, and 7-11, leaving all other sets to finish in 3 ends. For the Challengers Hubert Malenda was the only unbeaten player for the 3rd consecutive week and was well supported by Daniel Bain and Kavish Dodhia. Bain and Malenda took the doubles easily in 3 ends taking this doubles pairing to 7 wins.
WDHA Raj Riders C 8 v Westfield D 2
Both teams in the bottom half of the division, with some close games could have put the score a lot closer. In fact last time they played it was a draw. For Riders C Paresh Shah and Amit Shah now have 4 hat tricks under their belt. Aum Lakhani scored a single, losing his other sets to Roy Smyth and Stuart Rae. Riders finished the match with a 3 end doubles to conclude a productive night out.
WDHA Rising Stars 1 v Westfield C 9
With some heavy defeats for Rising Stars it was left to Jiten Gopal, who is keeping this team alive, to win their only point in his match against Asish Nandi winning 11-9, 11-7, 2-11, 11-9. He also came close to Jay Rogers, going down 3 times with a score of 9-11. Hat tricks for Rogers and Stuart Holroyd, plus the doubles win help put Westfield C nearer to second place.
Old Grammarians C 5 v Old Grammarians B 5
An in house contest saw Gramms B equalise with their C side, who are in second place. Alan Hill was the only unbeaten player with 7 hat tricks under his belt. Roger Fleming and Adrian Howes won 1 point a piece to conclude their score line. For the B side both Martin Rice and David Bayes won a brace each and new signing Ben Archer failed to score and it was up to Rice and Bayes to make the score level, which they did, in 4 ends.
