Gnomads progressed to the Handicap Cup Semi-Finals with a narrow 2 point victory over Swallows. Despite 23 & 17 point gains for Benjamin Forster and Joe Camp for Swallows, Gnomads stole the match at the death. Nigel Foster broke even with his 3 singles but it was Martin Rant that secured Gnomads’ win. Rant finished with a surplus of 23 which included an all important 17 point gain over Jasper Pye in the final game of the night.
Hobby Horse and House Martyns also fought out a very close match. Andrew Burt guided House Martyns through to the semi-finals with a personal gain of 26 points. Joseph Burt and Ellie Baker conceded only 6 and 1 point each to ensure victory for the Juniors.
Drifters winning margin over Basement Dwellers was also only 19 points. It was Ali Lang who put in a remarkable performance to ensure a semi final place for the Division 2 side. He finished the evening with a huge surplus of 94 points from his 3 singles. Vince Court’s surplus of 14 wasn’t enough to save Basement Dwellers from defeat.
Wiveliscombe eased themselves through their quarter-final against Barn Boys as Paul Nutkins, David Woodland & Dennis Buckingham all made points gains totalling a match surplus of 72.
Minehead A & Swallows came out on top of fixtures at the foot of Division One.
Joe Camp recorded a fine maximum to help Swallows defeat Tigers 30-17. Benjamin Forster and Jasper Pye added 7 & 5 singles points respectively and Swallows also took maximum points from the doubles to complete a solid victory.
A Paul Rees maximum along with 7 & 6 singles points for Terry Cadman and Don Davis led Minehead A to a 28-14 away win at Shooting Stars. Martin Shoots top scored for the home side and was only denied his own maximum by a 5 set defeat to Rees.
