There were few matches this week due to either the Christmas flu bug or players writing their lists for Santa.

Division 1 saw White Horse have a visitation from Gnomads. Ian Rew top scored for the home team with 7 points. It was another good game for Colin White scoring 5, plus a valuable single point from Jamie Robertson. A solitary single point in the doubles gave White Horse a creditable final score of 14 points. For Gnomads it was an early Christmas. Their hard work earned the only maximum of the night for player of the match, Martin Rant. Nigel Foster was close behind with 8 points and Eddie Ferris with 7 points. Maximum points in the doubles gave the visitors an excellent score of 33 points to move them up the division 1 league table.

Division 2 also had only one match to report when Roy’s Boys entertained Allsorts. The match was a very low scoring affair with only three of the games going beyond three sets. The home team singles points all came from Barry and Roy Hooper who both scored maximums. Barry was awarded player of the match. There was however less success in the doubles with only 3 points scored. Overall score for the ‘Boys was 21 points, making them the current joint leaders of division 2. Allsorts played steadily throughout with Andy Godfrey scoring 5, Mike Lawrie 4 and Barbara Parker 3 points. Despite a further 6 doubles points this left Allsorts 3 points behind the home team, having secured 18 points for the evening.

As we reach the end of the year it is worth taking stock of the league tables. Some teams have games in hand so it is likely to be ‘all change’ once the New Year gets into full swing.
