There were only two matches this week to work off the calories from the festive period.

Division 1 - White Horse were at home to Stogumber, who also share the same venue. The home side fought hard to win precious points and it was Ian Rew who led the way with 3 points, supported by both Jamie Robertson and Colin White with 1 point apiece. A solitary doubles point gave a final score of 6 points. Stogumber were on top form with David Bryant receiving the player of the match award for his maximum. Martyn Summerell also scored a maximum as he sported his new Santa beard. Mervyn Hillier scored a fine 7 points and has started to regain his form since returning from retirement. A maximum score in the doubles gave an excellent 34 points in total. Despite the high score there was no movement up the league table for Stogumber but they still have games in hand.

Division 2 saw a very close match between Tony’s Troopers and Allsorts. Tony Burrows played a captains innings for Troopers to be awarded player of the match for scoring the only maximum of the evening. Chris Wickham scored 6 and Jon Kemp a further 2 singles points. Doubles points were harder to come by and, with a score of 4, this gave a final tally of 21 points. Allsorts played in their usual steady and consistent way. Andy Godfrey was making the most of his new bat to score 8 points and Barbara Parker and Mike Lawrie each added 4 points. But it was in the doubles that Allsorts again showed their strength by scoring an impressive 8 points to clinch the match with 24 points and lifting the team up to 4th spot in the division.
