It was over the hill for Roy’s Boys as they journeyed to play Basement Dwellers. Captain, Vince Court, continued to master his challenging hard bat to score the only maximum of the evening and receive the player of the match award. Paul Reese scored an excellent 7 and the team was well supported by substitute Andy Godfrey, who added a solid 6 singles points. With 7 doubles points, Basement Dwellers ended the evening with a comfortable victory and 29 points.

Roy’s Boys put up strong resistance and played steadily throughout. Barry Hooper scored 4, as did Di Garner who couldn’t quite manage to exploit her pimples this week. Roy Hooper added the final 3 singles points. With 3 doubles points Roy’s Boys ended with a creditable score of 14 points, raising them off the foot of the division 1 table.

Current division 1 leaders, Gnomads welcomed second placed, and rising stars, House Martyns this week. Nigel Foster top-scored for the home side and missed his maximum by only one point. Martin Rant battled hard to earn his 6 points, with Steve Wells adding the final singles point. Doubles points were hard to come by throughout the evening and, with 3 points gleaned, Gnomads ended the match with18 points and maintaining their position at the top of the division.

House Martyns’ captain, Scott Milton, led the way with the only maximum of the evening and was awarded player of the match for his fine performance. With a team member unable to play due to illness, Geoff Williams played as substitute for this match, returning a solid 5 points. Curtis King struggled to maintain his averages this week, returning the final 3 singles points. The visitors triumphed in some very close doubles sets to score a maximum 9 points. House Martyns ended the evening with a comfortable win with 26 points and maintaining their second spot in division 1.
