Division 

This week Basement Dwellers scored a grand slam maximum match score against visitors, White Horse. The match was played in good spirit, but the visitors encountered a team with every player at the top of their game. Vince Court, Mike Vickery, and the hard-hitting Toby Kerslake each achieved their maximums in the singles and then went on to repeat the feat unopposed in the doubles. Player of the match was awarded to Toby. With 36 points in the bag Basement Dwellers have now moved to the top of the division 1 table, setting themselves up as the target for the chasing teams.

Many of the sets were close fought but only David Bryant and Ian Rew could salvage a single point apiece to save the whitewash. The two points scored leave White Horse firmly rooted to the foot of the table.

 Division 2

The division 2 match was a much closer affair as Allsorts challenged Drifters. The match was finely balanced throughout but it was Allsorts who prevailed despite a second half revival from Drifters. For the home team it was again the ambidextrous Sifa Vea who led the way for his maximum, and the player of the match award. Steve Palmer only missed his maximum by a single point and Mike Lawrie added the final 4 singles points. Allsorts got the better of the doubles with 8 points scored. The final tally for Allsorts was a victorious 29 points which places them at the top of the division 2 table.

Drifters put up a stubborn performance throughout the evening although their late match resurgence failed to enable them to catch up with their opponents. Andrew Miles was the stand-out player for Drifters, playing some outstanding and instinctive table tennis. Andrew top-scored with 7. Liz Fletcher and Dave Smith each added a solid 5 singles points apiece. The match result could have turned on the doubles performance, however, the 4 points scored left Drifters with a total of 21 points for their efforts, albeit sufficient to lift them from the foot of the table.
