tested this week, The first saw Drifters hosting White Horse. The home team put up a good fight against their division 1 opponents, with Dave Smith leading the charge with 7 singles points, closely followed by Liz Fletcher with 5 and Andrew Miles with 4. Despite some close-fought doubles sets, Drifters were unable to add to the scorecard and their evening ended with a total of 16 points. This was however sufficient to move them away from the foot of the league table.

From the off, White Horse led the field with David Bryant awarded player of the match for the only maximum of the evening. Ian Rew was also on form with an excellent 7, and Jamie Robertson coming in with the remaining 4 singles points. White Horse galloped away with the doubles and their maximum gave them a total of 29 points for the evening.

Junior team, Hawks faced a tough match at home against last year’s division 1 champions, Basement Dwellers. Despite the pressure, the home team battled hard and the singles points were shared between Mark Scyner with 6 and Alfie Southam with a well-earned 4. In the doubles, Nathaniel Southam helped his team to gain a solid 5 points to give Hawks a final tally of 15 points for the evening.

Basement Dwellers continue to press the top of the league table. Vince Court was awarded player of the match for the only maximum of the evening. Kerry Manicom added an excellent 7, and the remaining 5 singles points were added by the ambidextrous Sifa Vea, who was substitute for this match. Basement Dwellers had to work hard in the doubles, but managed to prevail with a maximum. This gave them a decisive victory with 30 points that edges them closer to the top-spot.
