White Horse found the going hard when Wiveliscombe came to challenge them. For the home side it was David Bryant who made all the running by winning 6 sets. The final singles set was added by Jamie Robertson before Andy Godfrey helped glean a solitary doubles set to bring the final score for White Horse to 8 points which keeps them tethered to the foot of the division 1 table.

Wiveliscombe had White Horse on the rails from the off and showed good form all evening. David Woodland and Paul Nutkins each scored maximums, with Paul receiving the award for player of the match. Ben Cooper completed the singles scoring with 6 sets before the team combined to score another maximum in the doubles. This gave Wiveliscombe a convincing win with 33 points, taking them to the top of the table.

Gnomads entertained Basement Dwellers in an intriguing match. Martin Rant returned to top form scoring a maximum in the singles for the player of the match award. Nigel Foster added a solid 6 singles sets, with Derek Mayall adding the final 3. With 8 doubles sets Gnomads ended the evening with a final tally of 26.

Basement Dwellers played steadily but never managed to control the match. Vince Court led their fight with 6 singles sets and was supported by Kerry Manicom with 3. Andrew Miles played as substitute and his deft use of his pimples gained the final 2 singles points. With the addition of 3 doubles sets Basement Dwellers returned, together with their bats, to their roost with 14 points.

It was an all Minehead affair that provided the closest match of the week when Allsorts received a visitation from Hillbillies. The home team were continuing to suffer from injuries but soldiered on with Scott Milton winning the player of the match award for the only maximum of the evening. Matt Lawrence was still suffering from his painful back but he, and Andy Berry, scored 6 singles sets apiece. With 4 doubles sets, Allsorts’ score rose to 25 points.

Hillbillies played consistently but failed to dominate the match. Their scoring was led by Paul Rees and the ambidextrous Sifa Vea with 6 singles sets each. Curtis King fell behind in the averages with 4 singles sets. Despite a better showing in the doubles, their 7 sets failed to see the Hillbillies strike oil and trailed their hosts with a final score of 23.
