Division 1

The latest outing for White Horse was on home turf when they entertained Allsorts. For the home team it was David Bryant that led the field, with 6 sets to his credit. Ian Rew and Jamie Robertson were neck and neck in the singles with 3 sets apiece. In the doubles, White Horse cantered to a modest 3 sets to pass the finishing post with a total of 15 points. It must however be noted that during the match only 3 games were completed in the minimum 3 sets – a credit to the home team.

Allsorts took an immediate lead that gradually increased as they pulled away from White Horse as the match progressed. Allsorts’ Scott Milton won the player of the match award for the only maximum of the evening and was well supported by Andy Berry and Matt Lawrence – each scoring 7 singles sets. With a maximum in the doubles, Allsorts completed a convincing victory with 32 points to give them the current lead in the division 1 table.

Division 2

The junior Hawks were flying high this week when they played newly formed Minehead Wanderers. Both Mark Scyner and Alfie Southam scored maximums as the home team put pressure on their opponents from the start. It was Mark who received the player of the match award as his maximum was unopposed. Nathaniel Southam added an excellent 7 singles sets before the team went on to collect 8 doubles sets as they swooped to victory with a final tally of 33 points, seeing them soar to the top of division 2.

Wanderers regained their compass and got their match play back on track as they put up a spirited fight. Mike Newman led the way with 5 singles sets and was supported by Dave Veale with 4 and Laurie Chalk with 2. Three doubles sets saw Wanderers returning to base with a total of 14 points.
