In their final match of this leg, White Horse fielded their team of Ian Rew, Andy Godfrey and Jamie Robertson against current round favourites, Wiveliscombe. The meeting started in great fashion when Ian took the first set of the evening to lead the charge. The visitors soon got their heads down and reined in the home team. Ian went on to win a total of 4 sets as his team’s star player. Ian was then joined by Andy Godfrey in the doubles where they added 2 further sets. White Horse crossed the finishing line with a total of 6 for the evening.

Wiveliscombe were relentless with Paul Nutkins and Ben Cooper both scoring maximums, with Ben winning the player of the match award. Eamon Farrelly added an excellent 6 singles sets before the visitors completed a maximum in the doubles. Wiveliscombe ended the match with 33 as they seek to complete their outstanding fixtures.

Allsorts completed their matches in this round when they challenged Wiveliscombe. Due to a very painful lower back injury Scott Milton was unable to start the match, however, Curtis King kindly agreed to substitute at very short notice. Allsorts started strongly and played consistently with both Geoff Williams and Curtis King winning 4 singles sets apiece. A further 3 sets were added by Matt Lawrence by his judicious use of every inch of the table. The home team gave a good account of themselves in the doubles and, with 7 sets, Allsorts took their tally to 18.

Wiveliscombe are the anticipated winners of this round and proved formidable opponents. Both David Woodland and Ben Cooper scored maximums, with the player of the match being awarded to David. A final singles set was added by Eamon Farrelly. Wiveliscombe just edged the doubles with 8 sets to give them a winning total of 27 for the match.

The grand finale of this round will be played between Wiveliscombe and Basement Dwellers next week. Wiveliscombe will only need to win 20 sets to clinch the round so it looks like the match will be hotly contested by both teams.
