AllsortsLast Chance Saloon24 - 25

Both matches this week featured Allsorts as they endeavour to play their outstanding matches in this round. The first match saw Allsorts hosted by Drifters, comprising Liz Fletcher, Andrew Miles and Crispin Barber. Drifters battled hard but never quite managed to win a set as they faced an on-form trio of Scott Milton, Andy Berry and Geoff Williams, with the player of the match award going to Scott.

Allsorts won the match with a Grand Slam 36 points, with maximums in all the singles and doubles. Drifters gave a good account of themselves and the match was played in great spirit throughout the evening.

The second game for Allsorts was a thrilling and close-fought affair when they entertained Last Chance Saloon. The teams were closely matched throughout and culminated with the teams being level on points with only the final doubles game to be played. This game also went down to the wire and was decided in the 5th set by the narrowest of margins, 9 – 11, with Last chance saloon clinching the victory.

For Allsorts the scoring was led by Geoff Williams and Matt Lawrence with 8 points apiece. Matt was playing with an extremely painful back throughout the evening but still managed to utilise every inch of the table. The final 3 singles points were added by Andy Berry and player of the match was awarded to Geoff. With 5 doubles points added the final score for Allsorts rose to 24.

Last Chance Saloon played consistently all evening led by Curtis King with 7, Sifa Vea 6, and Paul Rees 5 singles points. With 7 doubles points, and that exciting finish, Last Chance Saloon finished the victors with a total of 25 points.
