Allsorts braved the elements when they were hosted by last year’s champions, Basement Dwellers, at Alcombe. Conditions were uncomfortable as the hall is no longer heated – despite sub-zero temperatures outside that evening. There was nothing between the teams in the singles play but player of the match was awarded to Dwellers’ Vince Court for the only maximum of the evening. The remaining singles sets were won by the hard hitting Toby Kerslake with 6. In the doubles, Kerry Manicom helped her team mates to score a maximum, giving Basement Dwellers the victory with 24 points.

Allsorts pressed hard in the singles led by Scott Milton with 6. Andy Berry and Geoff Williams won 4 sets apiece. With only 4 doubles sets to add to the scoreline, the disappointing doubles result decided the match, with Allsorts ending the evening on 18 points.

White Horse were on a charge this week when they entertained Roy’s Boys. From the off, White Horse took the lead with David Bryant neck and neck with Ian Rew as they each scored maximums. It was Ian that pipped David at the post for the player of the match award. Andy Godfrey added a further 6 to the singles tally. In the doubles, Jamie Robertson was the specialist for this match, helping his team romp home with an excellent 7 sets. White Horse passed the finishing post as victors with an excellent 31 points for the evening.

Roy’s Boys put up a spirited performance with Barry Hooper taking 5 sets. The final 2 singles sets were added by Roy Hooper before the two combined in the last doubles game of the evening to win with 3 sets. The total for Roy’s Boys climbed to 10.

There was a second outing for White Horse when they visited Hawks. The home team had to work hard for their points but captain, Mark Scyner, was firmly in the saddle as he reigned in the visitors. Mark’s maximum earned him the player of the match award. The final 3 singles sets were added by Alfie Southam. Nathaniel Southam joined his teammates to add a further 6 doubles sets, raising the total score for Hawks to 18 points.

White Horse were on good form and made the going from the off. David Bryant and Jamie Robertson jockeyed for top-scorer but ended with 6 sets apiece. The final 5 singles sets were added by Andy Godfrey. White Horse galloped away with the doubles, scoring 8 to give a grand total of 25, and the match victory.
