1st DIVISION

The season headed south for Hillbillies as they journeyed to Gnomads. The home team played consistently well all evening with Martin Rant achieving the player of the match award for his maximum. Nigel Foster scored an excellent 7 and Derek Mayall a solid 6 singles sets. Gnomads were less dominant in the doubles, with 3 sets to their credit. The final score for Gnomads ended at 25points, giving them a comfortable win.

Hillbillies were unable to dominate the singles, with Curtis King top-scoring with 5 sets and failing to improve his averages. The remaining singles sets were won by Andy Berry, who added 3 to the team total. It was a different story in the doubles where Hillbillies got the better of their opponents and added 6 sets to bring their score to 14.

 

Basement Dwellers led from the start as they headed out of the starting gate, followed by White Horse. Both Vince Court and Mike Vickery scored maximums for the home team, with Vince receiving the award for player of the match. Kerry Manicom added the final 2 singles sets before the team combined to score another maximum in the doubles. The final score of 29 for Basement Dwellers gave them a clear victory.

White Horse were not really at the races throughout the evening. David Bryant and Andy Godfrey were neck and neck with 4 singles sets apiece, closely followed by Ian Rew with 3. With no success in the doubles the score for White Horse ended at 11.

2nd DIVISION

Shooting Stars entertained Drifters, with the home team comprising Martin Shoots, Geoff Williams and Robin Arkell scoring a grand slam 36 points, with the player of the match award going to Geoff. The scoreline does not however reflect the hard battle that the visitors put up, with many sets going to deuce, and others won by Shooting Stars by the narrowest of margins.

Drifters never stopped battling and made life tough for the home team. It was only after the mid match break that Drifters became invigorated and started to win sets with Liz Fletcher, Andrew Miles, and Dave Smith each winning one singles set before gleaning one final doubles set between them. Drifters ended the evening with 4 points for their efforts.

 

Waterrow played their latest home match at the Lawns against Wanderers. Star Performer was Eamon Farrelly with the only maximum of the evening for the player of the match award. The remaining 6 singles points were scored by Dennis Buckingham.  The home team then dominated the doubles by winning 8 sets to bring the final total for Waterrow to 23 points and the top of the table position in division 2.

 

Wanderers acquitted themselves well with Jani Jasielczuk and Laurie Chalk scoring 6 singles sets apiece. Tim Bosley added a further 3 singles sets. With 3 doubles sets, Wanderers completed the match with 18 points.
