Roys Boys | Plan B | 15 -28 |
Drifters had the daunting task of playing high flying Allsorts this week. It was indeed mission impossible for the home side against relentless opposition. Despite 5 sets being lost by the minimum of 2 points, Drifters never managed to get onto the scorecard to save the whitewash.
For Allsorts it was a full set of maximums for Curtis King, Sifa Vea and, substitute, Mark Scyner. Player of the match was awarded to Curtis as he continues to build his averages. With a further maximum in the doubles, Allsorts ended the match with a grand slam score of 36 points to claim the top spot in the league.
Roy’s Boys played their home match at The Colt House, where they challenged Plan B. It was a hard fought match with Barry Hooper just missing his maximum in an exciting game against Geoff Williams. With 8 sets to Barry’s credit, Roy Hooper and Charlie Bond added one further singles set apiece. The doubles were evenly contested and the 5 sets won brought Roy’s Boys’ final tally to 15 points.
Plan B played consistently throughout led by Geoff Williams, who’s maximum earned him the player of the match award. Martin Shoots scored 7 and Robin Arkell a solid 6 singles sets. Plan B just edged the doubles with 6 sets to give a winning total of 28 points, lifting them off the bottom of the league table.
