Wanderers found their way to Bampton where they played Roy’s Boys. For the home team, Barry Hooper was on top form, winning the player of the match award for scoring a maximum. Charlie Bond just missed his, winning an excellent 8 singles sets, with Roy Hooper adding the remaining 4. The doubles were keenly contested with Roy’s Boys prevailing with 6 sets, giving them a clear victory with 27 points.

For Wanderers, Jani Jasielczuk was the top scorer with 6 singles sets and Laurie Chalk completed the singles scoreline with a further 4 sets. With little to choose between the teams in the doubles, 4 sets were added to the team total. Wanderers headed in the direction of home with a total of 14 points.

White Horse were on home turf this week when they entertained Allsorts. Ian Rew headed the field as he kept his head down to win 5 singles sets. For Jamie Robertson and Andy Godfrey the going was hard, as they remained at the back of the field, adding one singles set apiece in a photo finish. With one doubles set on the scorecard, White Horse never made it to the winners’ enclosure with their total of 8 points.

From the off, Allsorts galloped away with the match. Curtis King continued to improve his averages and his maximum earned him the player of the match award. Steve Brooks, playing only his second match, also scored an excellent maximum. The ambidextrous Sifa Vea just missed his maximum adding an excellent 8 singles sets. With a maximum in the doubles, Allsorts continued to extend their lead at the top of the table with a final score of 35 points.

The last match this week saw junior based Hawks challenging Plan B. For the home team, Mark Scyner earned the player of the match award for the only maximum of the evening. Mark had to work hard for his success and only did so after winning two 5-set thrillers. Alfie Southam added the remaining 2 singles sets despite some excellent play throughout the evening. Nathaniel Southam also played to a high standard and, despite lacking success in the singles, combined with his teammates to procure 4 doubles sets. Hawks’ final tally was 15 points.

Plan B fielded their normal team this week and played consistently throughout the match. Both Geoff Williams and Martin Shoots won 8 singles sets apiece, with Robin Arkell adding a solid 7 sets. Plan B prevailed in the doubles with 7 sets, giving them a winning score of 30 points.
