Our Honorary President and the league's longest serving member, Allan Pickford, turns 80 years young today.

Each week of the season, one team in each division has a free week so there could be players there only too willing to play.

Divisions 1 and 2 will commence the season in week beginning 13 September but, so that there won't be large gaps in the fixtures later in the season, the Premier division will only commence in week beginning 4 October.

The Executive Committee met last night to discuss the upcoming season.

Certain League rules have been amended and in some cases, temporarily adjusted, in an attempt to help teams in the current situation. The rules are now on the website.

Long standing Standish A and Wigan League player, Terry Smith is planning to undertake an arduous journey. He intends, along with his young daughter, Poppy, to canoe from West to East coast of England along 162 miles of inland waterways.
