Mick Burnett

Charles Allenby asked me to pass on the sad news that Mick Burnett died in Malton Hospital on Friday 29th December, aged 65. The funeral will take place at Woodlands Crematorium, Scarborough, on Thursday 18th January at 10 00am. Family flowers only, but donations if so desired in memory of Mick will go to York against Cancer.

Charles went on to say that because of illness Mick has been unable to play table tennis for the last fifteen years, but he kept in touch with the game, and was particularly interested in the exploits of the Coneysthorpe A and B teams. Many will remember Mick as an enthusiastic player who enjoyed success for Coneysthorpe in the York & District League Division 2, and was competitive in Division 1. Mick also represented Swinton in the Ryedale League for over thirty years, and won many awards. He also played for Swinton in the Scarborough & District League for a number of seasons. He earned great respect for his sportsmanship and dedication to the game.
