At the halfway stage of the Team Competition, Rose & Two Thorns increased their lead with a narrow 5-4 win over nearest rivals TT Allstarz.  The leaders were boosted by the return of Tony Catt, who won two and the eponymous Rose Rainton who notched another maximum. Arthur Bracken won two for the Allstarz, including a straight games win over Catt which levelled the match at 4-4 before Rainton ensured the victory with a tight 11-9, 11-8 win over James Gorridge.

Match of the week saw the two teams in equal third place meet, with Winter Mixtures 7-2 win over Ivory Rose moving them into second place above TT Allstarz. Despite the scoreline, this was a close contest with four match-ups going the distance. A maximum for Sue Pingram and two wins each for Pam Winter and Roger Pingram settled the match with Roger missing out on a maximum after losing to Pete Robinson 15-17 in the decider. Nail-biters too for both Roger and Winter who scraped past John Wilson on his debut in the competition before Alan McCleave stopped a Winter maximum with a 12-10, 11-9 win.

Slovakquickdust continue to distance themselves from the foot of the table and they had their second consecutive win as they brushed aside Going Down 7-2 with Martin Kapusta unbeaten and two apiece for John Bradbury and Emily Koester. Going Down are doing just that; after a brief flirtation with the leadership they have lost four on the bounce with just the one bonus point.

Ball Bashers may have expected a routine win over a much-changed Bats Atoxic but faced a mountain to climb after only two sets. Toxics’ Peter Saunders enjoyed a narrow win over Trevor Towner before Nick Coleman injured himself during a 2-1 defeat to Keith Lindsay and was forced to concede his last two sets. This put Toxics 4-1 up before a tremendous rally from unbeaten Ryan Heselden and Towner, rising to the occasion with a win over debutant Ed Lawrie before beating Lindsay 11-9, 11-9 with the match score at 4-4
